If you feel the threads lower than normal, it is very likely that the Mirena is not in the proper position. I understand that without health insurance, a trip to the doctor's office is costly. But, you need to be examined and have the Mirena repositioned, otherwise it is ineffective. Call your gynecologist and ask what you should do. You should not be charged for a telephone call and an office visit will cost less than an ER visit.
