Sounds like your boyfriend might be favoring your left breast and being a bit aggressive while fooling around. You can ask him to be less aggressive. In the meantime, try a vitamin A & E ointment applied to the nipple to relieve the cracked, red skin.
If the pain, swelling, redness and cracked skin do not improve with "less aggressive fooling around" , you should see your doctor.
