Hi,
Genital herpes can be transmitted from an infected mother to the baby during delivery as the baby passes through the birth canal. The baby's father cannot pass genital herpes to the baby. Generally, a person can only get genital herpes during sexual contact with someone who has a genital herpes infection. Transmission can occur from an infected partner who does not have a visible sore and may not know that he or she is infected.
