Hi,
I can only imagine how painful your case of sunburn must be. Does this area that you describe appear to be filled with fluid? It could be a blister, which can be large or small and fluid-filled with red, tender, raw skin underneath. If this description matches the area you have described, keep the area exposed and free from friction. You don't want to pop the blister. However, since you say the sunburn is severe, I think you should call your doctor. Your doctor can examine you and prescribe treatment if necessary. A severe sunburn is serious.
