Implantation bleeding occurs when the fertilized egg attaches to the uterine wall or implants. It is spotting not bleeding. It is scanty, thus the term spotting. It is pink or brown in color. It goes away on its own in about 2 or 3 days and never increases to a flow.
Breakthrough bleeding can present as spotting or a flow, occurs between periods and sometimes after taking an emergency contraceptive pill or skipping birth control pills.

When in doubt, take a home pregnancy test.
