Your gynecologist is the best person to determine the reason you have recently had 2 periods in one month.

However, I can give you some general causes. The first cause is a hormonal imbalance. Hypothyroidism (under active thyroid gland) is known to cause periods to come more frequently.

Abnormal thickening of the uterine lining can cause a period to come twice in one month. Birth control pills containing  only estrogen and not progesterone is another cause. Polyps or fibroids may cause irregular periods.
