Hello Anonymous,
According to PubMed Health, "Oxycodone is used to relieve moderate to severe pain. Oxycodone is in a class of medications called opiate (narcotic) analgesics. It works by changing the way the brain and nervous system respond to pain."
It is a drug which you can easily become addicted to.
Are you being treated by an orthopedic surgeon, a pain management physician or an internist? I would strongly encourage you to be evaluated by a pain management physician, who can recommend other therapies beside the use of a narcotic.
