Guide

Hello Anonymous,

Taking a pregnancy test 2 days after unprotected sexual intercourse is too early. A pregnancy test detects hCG levels. As I stated in my above response to you, hCG levels are detected in urine about 12 to 14 days following conception.

Next Choice is effective in preventing pregnancy if taken within 72 hours or 3 days following unprotected sex. You did this, so it is very unlikely that you are pregnant.

Within 24-hours after fertilization, the egg begins dividing rapidly into many cells. It remains in the fallopian tube for about three days. So, even if you did conceive on April 29, by the time you took Next Choice. the fertilized egg was still in your fallopian tube.

Next Choice works in three ways:
the release of an egg from the ovary (ovulation)
fertilization of the egg (by the sperm)
attachment of the egg (implantation) to the uterus (womb)
In your case, if an egg was fertilized, Next Choice would prevent attachment of the egg to the uterus.
