Hello Anonymous,
It is difficult to determine whether you ever were pregnant and had a miscarriage, or if this was a slightly abnormal period.
Levels of hCG, which is often called the pregnancy hormone, is first detected in urine about 12 to 14 days following conception. By taking a pregnancy test on the day you expected your period may have been too early.
Your symptoms do match the signs of a miscarriage. Symptoms of a miscarriage include low back pain or abdominal pain that is dull, sharp or cramping, plus, tissue or clot-like material that passes from the vagina and vaginal bleeding.
Lastly, you may have had a period that was different from previous ones.
If you are due for a gynecological exam, I suggest that you schedule one to rule out a possible miscarriage and to any menstrual cycle abnormalities.
