It is normal to not start your period exactly on the first day of taking the inactive pills. Some women will begin their periods on the second or third day. Your period can continue while you are taking the first few doses of the active pill.
Think of it this way. Switching from active to inactive pills is not like turning a switch on and off. Your body needs time to adjust to the changes in hormone levels.
