At what age did you begin menstruating?
As you know, the menstrual cycle is regulated by a hormones. During each cycle, your brain's hypothalamus and pituitary gland send hormone signals back and forth with your ovaries. These signals get the ovaries and uterus ready for a pregnancy. Estrogen and progesterone play the biggest role in how the uterus changes during each cycle.
A change in hormone levels can affect your cycle. Teenagers tend to have low or changing progesterone levels. A drop in progesterone along with estrogen causes the lining of the uterus to break down. This is when your period starts.
This could possibly be the reason you had two periods just two weeks apart.
Scheduling an appointment with your doctor will allow you the opportunity to discuss your menstrual cycle and concerns.
