Guide

Hello cooksandi_k,

Your lighter and shorter period for the month of April was the result of taking your birth control pills irregularly.

Gildess FE 1.5/30 is a progestogen-estrogen combination birth control pill. It works primarily by inhibiting ovulation. It causes changes in the cervical mucus, which increase the difficult of sperm entry into the uterus. It also causes changes in the endometrium, which reduce the likelihood of implantation.

Hormones play a key role in regulating the menstrual cycle. Upsetting the normal balance will lead to changes in your menstrual cycle. Don't be surprised if your period for May starts earlier.

You did the right thing by doubling up for missed pills. You should be protected against pregnancy. If your period is late beyond one week, then you can take a home pregnancy test.

My best,
Maryann
