I did not experience weight gain as a result of reaching menopause. However, menopause sneaked in the "back door" while I was battling cancer. I did experience weight gain as a result of having a rare endocrine tumor, esthesioneuroblastoma, and taking high dose of Decadron, to reduce brain edema.
My way of losing 85 lbs. was to limit caloric intake, drink plenty of water, especially when hungry in between meals, and to burn more calories than I consumed. I started with yoga and daily walks. I have maintained a healthy weight by being physically active. For me, gardening our one acre property is a great exercise.
