Your suggestion that antibiotics "can be administered at home without visiting a doctor" concerns me.
To quote the Mayo Clinic, "Doctors typically use antibiotics to treat urinary tract infections. Which drugs are prescribed and for how long depend on your health condition and the type of bacterium found in your urine.'
a urine culture must be done to identify the type of bacterium. Never should an antibiotic prescribed for a previous infection be used or shared.
