Hello Anonymous,

I am so sorry to hear about your struggles with multiple health issues, poor dental health, and limited finances to cover the cost of proper care.

There is a strong correlation between periodontitis (severe gum disease) and diabetes. The inflammation impairs the body's ability to utilize insulin.

Inflammation in the mouth causes inflammation in the blood vessels. This can increase the risk for heart attack or stroke.

There is a risk for endocarditis, which is an infection of the inner lining of the heart called the endocardium. Bacteria from another part of your body, such as your mouth, can spread through your bloodstream and attach to damaged areas of your heart.

There may be a link between osteoporosis and periodontal bone loss and tooth loss.

Tooth loss before age 35 might be a risk factor for Alzheimer's disease.

Anonymous, this is a major concern for you. See if there is a dental clinic in your area that offers care at no charge. In my area of the U.S., dental schools at major universities, such as NYU and Bridgeport University, offer dental care to the underserved.

Regards,
Maryann
