Hello Anonymous,

You are a good friend and I hope your college friends appreciate your concern.

The American Cancer Society reports there is a link between alcohol consumption and the risk of developing breast cancer. In comparison to non-drinkers, women who consume one alcoholic drink daily have a very small increase in risk. However, women who have two to five drinks each day have about 1 1/2 times the risk of women who do not drink any alcohol. Excessive alcohol consumption increases a person's risk for developing other types of cancer, such as mouth, throat, larynx, esophagus, liver, colon and rectum.

Here are links to two scholarly articles about the correlation of alcohol consumption and cancer risks.
