Guide

Hello Anonymous,

Many women experience insomnia as they go through perimenopause. I can appreciate how this must impact your level of energy and daily life.

I can offer you a few suggestions.

Try drinking a glass of milk before bedtime. Milk contains tryptophan, which the body uses to make serotonin. Serotonin helps control sleep patterns. Milk does not contain enough tryptophan to change sleep patterns, but may help you relax before bedtime.

Avoid napping during the day. Exercise daily, but avoid vigorous exercising before bedtime.

Keep your bedroom cool to prevent night sweats.

Do not go to bed until you are tired.

Take a warm bath or shower before bedtime. Follow the same bedtime routine each night.

I hope one of these suggestions prove helpful.

Regards,
Maryann
