Body acne is similar to facial acne. People with facial acne are more prone to body acne.

Acne forms when pores on the skin or hair follicles become clogged with dead skin and oil. It will form wherever there are sebaceous glands.These are the glands that produce sebum or oil.

Step one in the treatment of acne is good hygiene. If your boyfriend works out regularly and perspires heavily, he may need to shower more than once a day. Wash with a gently cleanser; excessive washing and scrubbing can irritate the skin.

Step two is try over the counter acne products that contain benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid as the active ingredient.

If the acne does not respond to over the counter treatments, consider seeing a dermatologist to get a stronger prescription strength topical product.

Diet plays no role in the development of acne.
