Guide

Hello Anonymous,

The menstrual cycle is regulated by hormones. Any imbalance will cause changes. An irregular period is an early sign of perimenopause. Fluctuations in estrogen levels usually occur when a woman is in her late 40s or around age 50.

Anonymous, are you using a oral contraceptive or have you received an injected contraceptive? They can affect estrogen levels.

Short periods are not serious or a cause for worry. But, you may want to consult your physician if this pattern continues.

Regards,
Maryann
