Guide

Hello Nina,

Thank you for your question. There is a lot of buzz about the health benefits of a gluten-free diet.

To answer your question, let's look at what gluten is. Gluten is a protein composite found in wheat, barley, and rye. Worldwide, it is a source of protein.

The primary purpose of a gluten-free diet is to treat celiac disease. Gluten causes inflammation in the small intestines of people with celiac disease. Eating a gluten-free diet helps people with celiac disease control their signs and symptoms and prevent complications.

There is no reason for an individual without celiac disease to follow a gluten-free diet. Whole grains are an important part of a healthy, well balanced diet. Why would you want to eliminate this source of protein?

Regards,
Maryann
