Hello Anonymous,

Welcome to EmpowHER and thank you for coming to us with your questions.

Are you noticing blood each time you insert something into your vagina? Are you applying a lubricant first?

First time bleeding is a sign that your hymen has been penetrated and ruptured. The hymen is a fold of tissue that partly covers the opening of the vagina.

Bleeding each time you insert an object into your vagina indicates irritation, either from lack of proper lubrication or aggressive, forceful insertion.

A virgin is someone who has never had sex. But "sex" is defined differently by different people. A lot of people think that women and men lose their virginity the first time they have penis-in-vagina intercourse. But this definition is really limited because it excludes heterosexual individuals and other types of sex.

I would like you to visit our Sexual Health 101 page to learn more about how pregnancy happens. Please take a look at this slide show.
