Hello AA2443,

Welcome to the EmpowHER community. Thank you for coming to us with your concern. I am so glad that you mentioned the lower right abdominal pain and spotting to your stepmother.

AA2443, you are not at risk for pregnancy. I understand that you have irregular periods. How long have you been menstruating?

At age 15, your hormones are still adjusting to regulating a monthly menstrual cycle. This would explain the spotting, which probably indicates your period will start soon.

Some women experience pain or cramping about midcycle. This coincides with ovulation. The pain is felt on the side of which ovary is about to release a mature egg. This is another way some women know that their periods will start in the next two weeks.

Please relax because there is nothing to worry about. I agree with your stepmother that this is normal. As you mature, your periods should become more regular.

Regards,
Maryann
