Welcome to the EmpowHER community and thank you for reaching out to us with your question about a good daily face wash to control oily skin and adult acne.
To answer your question, I visited the website of the American Academy of Dermatology. When determining the best treatment option, dermatologists consider skin type.
Joshua Zeichner, MD, FAAD, a board-certified dermatologist and director of cosmetic and clinical research, department of dermatology at the Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York, N.Y., offered this recommendation for treating acne in people with oily skin.
"For acne in oily skin, a combination of a salicylic acid wash or foaming cleanser may be paired with topical medications. Lighter moisturizers containing ingredients that reduce shine on the face work well, or a primer can be applied to the skin that absorbs oil and reduces shine."
Topical retinoids are medications which contain vitamin A derivatives. This topical product prevents pimples from forming by decreasing inflammation and helping oil move out of the follicle properly.
Anonymous, it is important not to over wash your skin. Excessive scrubbing can irritate the skin, causing existing ruptures to get even more inflamed. Twice a day is enough.
