Hi Anonymous,

The menstrual cycle is regulated by hormones. Fluctuations in hormone levels, particularly estrogen, cause irregular menstrual cycles in women who are in perimenopause.

You want to find out if you have a hormonal imbalance that caused you to have two periods in one month. It would be a good idea to have a physical exam with a gynecologist since you are trying to conceive.
