Guide

Hello Anonymous,

Welcome to EmpowHER and thank you for reaching out to us for an explanation.

Before I can do that, I must ask you a few questions. Normally, how long is your menstrual cycle? Is it 28 to 30 days or less? Normally, how long does your period last? Do you have a menstrual flow for 3 days every month? Or do your periods last longer?

If you have a very short menstrual cycle, 22 days for example, it is possible that you could have ovulated just days after your period ended. The longest that sperm can survive in fertile cervical mucus is seven days. So it may just be possible for you to get pregnant if you ovulate a little earlier than usual.

Spotting seven days later could be implantation bleeding, if you actually did conceive.

More likely, if this is the first time ever that you had a period that lasted for only three days, you could have a hormonal imbalance. That would explain a shortened period and spotting seven days later.

Anonymous, I am only speculating and strongly suggest you contact your primary care physician or gynecologist.

Regards,
Maryann
