Guide

Hello Anonymous,

Welcome to EmpowHER and thank you for seeking our advice.

The menstrual cycle is regulated by a delicate balance of hormones. Any disruption in that balance will cause irregularities.

For example, with pregnancy, levels of estrogen and progesterone do not decrease, so you do not get a period.

Before you call your physician, take one more pregnancy test. Use a name brand product, check the expiration date, and test using the first urine of the morning.

If you still get a negative result, you need to be evaluated by your doctor. Beside pregnancy, a thyroid gland problem, serious anxiety, or a tumor on the pituitary gland can cause a missed period.

Regards,
Maryann
