Since you are very careful in checking and using a condom, and have had intercourse five days following ovulation, I think there is little to no chance that your girlfriend's period is late because of pregnancy.
I say little to no chance because one cannot beyond a doubt pinpoint when ovulation actually happens. Also, condoms are not 100% effective in preventing pregnancy.
I think stress, extreme stressing out over this, is most likely the reason her period is late to start.
She can try very hard to relax, and it may start. Or, if this will give both of you some peace of mind, take an early response pregnancy test now, or wait two or three more day, and use a standard test.
