Hi Anon,

Thank you for sharing your question with the EmpowHER community! Female sexual dysfunction is a tough condition to deal with. Currently there are zero FDA-treatment options for women experiencing FSD and lack of sexual desire. However, flibanserin, also known as the Pink Pill, is currently going through clinical trials with women experiencing FSD to test the effectiveness. There are hopes this treatment option will soon be approved by the FDA for women suffering from FSD. Here is a resource center on EmpowHER that talks all about the Pink Pill: https://www.empowher.com/pink-pill.

Since there is not an FDA-approved treatment option, women with FSD have had to turn to other treatment options. Some treatments that have worked successfully for women include estrogen therapy and medications like estradiol. I suggest talking with your doctor about these treatment options to get more information and to see if they would be helpful to you.

Toward the end of October, the FDA help a two-day workshop to discuss treatment options for FSD. At the workshop, the FDA listened to testimonies from women who experiencing FSD and also talked about how FSD is diagnosed. They also looked into the effectiveness of available medications for the condition.

Even the Score is one organization that focuses on the need for an FDA-approved treatment option for women with FSD. Use the hashtag #WomenDeserve on Twitter to talk about the need for an FDA-approved treatment option for FSD and to talk to other women who are experiencing the same difficulties.

I hope this has helped! Please keep me updated and let me know if you have any other questions.

Best,
Erin
