For the benefit of all our readers, a contraceptive implant is a thin, flexible plastic implant about the size of a cardboard matchstick. It is inserted under the skin of the upper arm. It protects against pregnancy for up to three years.
It releases a low, steady dose of a progestational hormone to thicken cervical mucus and thin the lining of the uterus and typically suppresses ovulation as well.
I read that if the implant stops working, or in your case, was removed, you can expect changes in your menstrual cycle. I am surmising the drop in progesterone levels could be responsible for the vaginal bleeding and cramping.
