Hello Anonymous,

Welcome to the EmpowHER community. Thank you for reaching out to us for any thoughts on your urinary tract condition.

Ask your internist if you may be suffering with interstitial cystitis, sometimes referred to as painful bladder syndrome.

Interstitial cystitis is a chronic bladder condition. Its symptoms are pain, pressure, or discomfort that seems to be coming from the bladder and is associated with urinary frequency and/or an urge to urinate. The symptoms range from mild to severe, and intermittent to constant.

It can be associated with irritable bowel syndrome, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, and other pain syndromes.

Many individuals can identify certain things that make their symptoms worse. For example, some people's symptoms are made worse by certain foods or drinks. Others find that symptoms are worse if they have stress, either physical or mental stress.

If you would like to learn more about interstitial cystitis, in preparation for your appointment, please visit the Urology Care Foundation website http://www.urologyhealth.org/urology/index.cfm?article=67

Please stay in touch. I am curious what your internist has to say.

Regards,
Maryann
