That is a good question. Many people are trying to live a healthier lifestyle. Eliminating refined sugar is one step in the right direction.

Glucose is our bodies essential source of energy. Diet is the primary source, but the body can make glucose from proteins and fat.

High fructose corn syrup, found in many processed foods, contains high amounts of fructose which is not essential and is only metabolized in the liver. When large amounts of fructose enter the liver and there is enough glycogen to supply the body's energy needs, most of the fructose turns into fat.

Sugar is an empty source of calories and doesn't contain any vitamins or minerals.

By eliminating refined sugar from your diet, you will reduce your risk for increased bad cholesterol levels and insulin resistance, which can lead to obesity and type 2 diabetes.
