Anonymous, I don't think your father's main issue is aphasia. Aphasia is a disorder caused by damage to the parts of the brain that control language and presents as difficulty with communication. It is common among people who have had a stroke, but brain tumors, infections, injuries, and dementia can also cause it.
Has your father been evaluated by a neurologist? Has dementia or Alzheimer's disease been suggested? I think you need to consult a neurologist or physician who specializes in aging adult health. It sounds like your father's behavior might be linked to age related changes in the brain. With a proper diagnosis, you and your family can be counseled to seek proper support services and treatment options.
