Hello Anonymous,

Welcome to EmpowHER and thank you for reaching out to us with your concern.

For the benefit of all our readers, adenomyosis occurs when endometrial tissue, which normally lines the uterus, exists within and grows into the muscular wall of the uterus. This happens most often late in your childbearing years after having children.

Vulvodynia means pain in the vaginal canal. Vaginal pain may be caused by an inflammation of the vagina, known as vaginitis, which could be due to a bacterial or yeast infection, or a sexually transmitted disease.

It can also be caused by vaginismus, which is pain that occurs when anything enters the vagina, including tampons or even a pelvic examination. Irritation from douches, spermicides or latex in condoms, infections, scars from an injury, childbirth or surgery, or psychological problems from a sexual trauma or abuse may also be involved.

Please contact your gynecologist. Your doctor may suggest you schedule an appointment for a pelvic examination now.

Regards,
Maryann
