According to the website of the American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society, "A potential complication of any fusion procedure is a failure of the fusion to heal, which is called a nonunion. Healing in a bad position can also occur, but this is not common."
Can the tip of one of the screws that is projecting into the joint be the cause of your pain? Is a second surgery to correct this an option?
