Take a home pregnancy test if you have had unprotected intercourse since your last period.
How old are you? If you are in your late 40s to early 50s, a late period could be an early sign of fluctuations in estrogen levels associated with perimenopause.
Have you been under a lot of stress since your last period? Have you been ill? Have you been exercising more intensely? Stress, extreme exercising, and illness can cause a delay in the start of your period.
Basically, the menstrual cycle is regulated by a balance of hormones. Any imbalance causes irregularities.
