Hi Anon,

Thank you for sharing your question with the EmpowHER community.

This could be a number of things potentially. But you should know if your body was producing pregnancy hormone (HCG) Human Chorionic Gonadotrophin, your period will stop.

Spotting (light bleeding) prior to normal menstrual cycle is fairly normal.  Some women (about 10 %) experience bleeding during ovulation due to a temporary drop in estrogen at the time an ovary releases an egg.

Are there any other characteristics with the spotting?  Like is there an unpleasant odor?  If so, there could be an infection or some sort of vaginal irritation.

Vaginal bleeding between periods could be breakthrough bleeding but is typical with women who are on birth control pills.  Breakthrough bleeding can be a sign of pregnancy which then it's called implantation bleeding.

If you think there is a chance you could be pregnant, take a home pregnancy test.

I hope this helps.

Be well,

~Gillette
