This is abnormal. You did the right thing by consulting your gynecologist, who is following the proper protocol. Do not worry about further testing at this time. A pelvic ultrasound will show a developing fetus or embryonic sac, if indeed you are pregnant. Likewise, the test will reveal any abnormalities such as polys or cysts on the ovaries, which could be causing this change.
