You are most at risk for conceiving if you go seven consecutive days without taking an active hormone containing birth control pill, and have intercourse without using a condom.
Your chance of being pregnant depend on two factors.
Starting your new pack one day late would put you at six consecutive days without an active pill- five days placebo plus missed first pill.
When you had intercourse is the second factor. If this occurred while you were taking the active pills, you should have been protected. Birth control pills prevent pregnancy mainly by preventing ovulation. Even if this occurred on the first day you missed a pill, I think you should be okay because you would have just finished break through bleeding.
Please consult with your gynecologist, who is more knowledgeable about this than I am.
