Welcome to EmpowHER and thank you for reaching out to us for advise regarding the prolonged bleeding.
Have you reported this to your gynecologist? If not, please do so today.
Have you started taking the active pills? If so, I am concerned why you continue to have withdrawal bleeding.
As you know, with oral contraceptives, you really don't have a period but rather withdrawal bleeding caused by the decrease in hormone levels triggered by the inactive pills.
A search to find some information for you, led me to an article written by Sarina Schrager M.D., University of Wisconsin Medical School, Madison, Wisconsin. She wrote "The evaluation of abnormal uterine bleeding in women who are using hormonal contraception includes an assessment of compliance, a thorough history and complete physical examination to exclude organic causes of bleeding, and a targeted laboratory evaluation. "
Please keep us updated once you have spoken with your physician.
