Hello Anonymous,

Schedule an appointment with a gynecologist or your primary care physician.

The menstrual cycle is regulated by a precise balance of hormones. Any upset in this balance causes irregularities.

There is very likely a hormonal issue that is causing you to have irregular menstrual cycles (not menstruating very often) and this unusual period.

Once possibility is PCOS or polycystic ovary syndrome. It is a common endocrine system disorder among women of reproductive age. Women with PCOS may have enlarged ovaries that contain small collections of fluid called follicles, which are located in each ovary.

Irregular periods is the most characteristic symptom. Intervals between periods can be longer than 35 days; fewer than eight menstrual cycles a year; failure to menstruate for four months or longer; and prolonged periods that may be scant or heavy.

Regards,
Maryann
