The reason you test in the morning, as soon as you wake up and use the first urine, is because that urine, which has been in your bladder overnight, is very concentrated.
The test checks for hCG levels. This hormone is produced only during pregnancy. For the most accurate result, you test with concentrated urine.
Drinking water and other fluids through out the day dilutes your urine. That is good, except when you take a pregnancy test.
