Guide

Hello Anonymous,

Welcome to EmpowHER. Postinor 2 contains a high dose of the synthetic hormone found in most birth control pills. It prevents pregnancy by preventing ovulation, or the release of a mature egg from an ovary. One dose of Postinor 2 should only be taken once in one month.

Generally, the dose is one pill taken and then the second pill taken 12 hours later. Is this what your girlfriend did? Or did she take one dose and then doubled the dose later in the day?

If she doubled on the dose, she overdosed. This can cause problems in her menstrual cycle.

Vaginal bleeding will indicate that the pill worked and she is not pregnant. However, next month, she may notice her period starts earlier or later than normal.

Any further concerns should be discussed with her gynecologist or primary care physician.

Regards,
Maryann
