Plan B One Step is about 95% effective in preventing pregnancy when taken within 72 hours, the sooner the better.
You will know that the pill worked once you have vaginal bleeding. This bleeding is not your normal monthly period, but bleeding caused by the pill.
I do not think there was much of a risk for pregnancy. But, since you were in a compromising position, both naked I assume and getting sexually aroused, it can happen again and both of you must start using some type of birth control.
