Guide

Hello Anonymous,

Welcome to EmpowHER and thank you for reaching out to us with your concern about how quickly you will conceive after stopping the Depo-Provera injections, and why you have had two periods in both June and July.

You need to ask your gynecologist, who knows your medical history, including any menstrual issues.

Generally, with Depo-Provera, you could become pregnant as soon as three to four months after your last shot. However, it may take some women up to a year or two to conceive after they stop using this type of birth control.

After the last shot of Depo Provera, it can take over 6 months for the drug to leave the body. Side effects may linger until the drug is completely gone. The residual hormones left in your body may explain the two periods in one month.

Regards,
Maryann
