Guide

Hello Anonymous,

Welcome to EmpowHER and thank you for reaching out to us with your concern regarding the chance of becoming pregnant during intercourse on the first day of restarting your pills.

So, if I understand correctly, after you finished the pack including the week of inactive pills, had break through bleeding, and didn't start a new pack until you had an appointment five days later. That would equal 12 days without an active, hormone containing pill.

When you did get a prescription refill, why did you double up on the pills? Is this what the gynecologist recommended? Why didn't you just start the new pack, taking one pill a day?

If you got the prescription refilled mid week or on any day after Sunday, why not wait one week and use other protection, like a condom.

I am concerned as to how well you were protected by having intercourse after only four doses or two days of double doses of active pills. I don't feel comfortable gambling a guess on your chances of being protected. Please consult your gynecologist on this one.

Regards,
Maryann
