Hello princess95,

I am deeply troubled by your story. I am glad you reached out to our community for advice.

You are a victim of incest. While it may be difficult to talk about, you should know that this is an issue that impacts many people. In the U.S., 44% of sexual assault victims are under the age of 18, and the majority of juvenile victims know the perpetrator. In fact, over 1/3 of perpetrators in cases of child sexual abuse are family members.

princess95, you must report this to your mother and your fiance. Depending where you live, you and your mother may be required by law to report this to the police, Child Protective Services, and Department of Human Services.

I strongly advice you to avoid all physical contact and any form of communication with your father.

You may encounter a range of short and long term effects that many survivors face. You may face additional issues related to your sense of safety and trust because this type of abuse often disrupts your primary support system, which is the family. There are support groups for survivors of incest as well as counselors trained in this.

Regards,
Maryann
