Guide

Hello Anonymous,

Welcome to EmpowHER. Thank you for reaching out to us with your issue of a prolonged period.

I am concerned that you had more painful than normal period pains and have been bleeding for two weeks. The prolonged bleeding puts you at risk for iron deficiency anemia. Iron deficiency anemia is a common type of anemia, which is a condition in which blood lacks adequate healthy red blood cells. Red blood cells carry oxygen to the body's tissues.

This article offers more detail about iron deficiency anemia: https://www.empowher.com/anemia/content/dont-let-iron-deficiency-anemia-drain-life-out-your-days

Beside a pregnancy test, were any other blood tests done or was a physical exam done?
Were you seen by a gynecologist at the clinic?

Anonymous, I am uncomfortable with the quality of care you appeared to have received. I can only suggest a trip to an urgent care clinic if the bleeding and pain persists.

Regards,
Maryann
