Hello Anonymous,

Welcome to EmpowHER. I am glad you reached out to us. Do you suspect that you might have a urethral prolapse?

The urethra is the tube that carries urine from the bladder to the outside of the body. When the urethra is not well supported by the muscles and tissues around it, it can curve and widen. This is called a urethral prolapse or urethrocele.

It is a rarely diagnosed condition that occurs most commonly in prepubertal black females and postmenopausal white women. Even less common is strangulated urethral prolapse.

Vaginal bleeding is the most common presenting symptom of urethral prolapse. Upon examination, round doughnut-shaped mucosa is observed protruding from the urethral opening.

Anonymous, if you are concerned, please contact your primary care physician, who can examine you. Here is the link to an image of urethral prolapse http://img.medscapestatic.com/pi/meds/ckb/45/39745tn.jpg
