Guide

Hello Anonymous,

Welcome to EmpowHER. I am glad you reached out to our community for help.

There is nothing you can do to stop the bleeding. You must contact your gynecologist today.

A prolonged period leads to increased blood loss. It will only worsen your anemia.

There are several possible causes for having a prolonged period. A hormonal imbalance of estrogen and progesterone is one cause. This is most common in women who are approaching perimenopause.

Use of blood thinners, a miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, problems with a non-hormonal IUD, PID,and other medical conditions that can prevent normal blood clotting, including liver, kidney, or thyroid disease, and bleeding or platelet disorders, can cause your period to last longer than normal.

Please keep us updated once you speak with your doctor.
Regards,
Maryann
