Hello Anonymous,

Welcome to EmpowHER. I am glad you reached out to our community.

ipill is an emergency contraceptive that prevents pregnancy by preventing ovulation, or the release of a mature egg from an ovary. It contains levonorgestrel 1.5 mg, a progestogen which helps prevent the implantation of the egg in the uterus and avoids the beginning of pregnancy.

i-pill should be taken not later than 72 hours after unprotected sex to avoid an unwanted pregnancy.

You are asking if ipill will prevent pregnancy if you have unprotected sex after you have taken the pill. That depends. How long after taking ipill did you have unprotected sex? You might have been protected if you had unprotected sex within a day or two of taking the pill, if you took it before ovulation. Please check with your pharmacist or physician.

You will know that the pill worked if you have vaginal bleeding or once you get your next monthly period.

Regards,
Maryann
